Getting Tough on Service Charge Arrears

EMH is now taking a firm line against residents who persistently fail to pay service charges, which cover the cost of communal services such as grounds maintenance.
As a social housing provider, we are reluctant to take legal action unless we have to. However, where all other options have failed we will go to court to recover outstanding debts from residents. When this happens, the resident will be liable for the court costs and may also receive a County Court Judgement against them which will make it hard for them to get credit in the future.
Recently we have taken successful legal action against a number of residents with service charge arrears. Make sure you do not have a similar case brought against you. If your service charge account is in arrears and you do not want us to take legal action, please contact the
