EMH Helps Boost Charity Funds
29/02/2008
Staff at East Midlands Housing have presented almost £800 to Macmillan Cancer Support after staging a series of fund-raising events.
Each year, employees at all the housing group’s offices in Coalville, Leicester, Northampton and Sutton in Ashfield raise funds for a nominated charity. Once all the cash is collected, EMH doubles the total before it is handed over to the charity. “Staff organised coffee mornings as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning initiative and also staged a competition to raise money,” explained Margaret Mitchell, human resources director at EMH. “The funds were also boosted by people donating money to the charity rather than sending Christmas cards.
A cheque for £789 was presented to Alison Smith, Macmillan Cancer Support’s fund-raising manager for Leicestershire and Rutland. EMH will be able to continue to collect cash for the charity using the collection tins, fundraising badges and teddies that Alison has provided. “We are grateful to organisations such as East Midlands Housing who support their staff in their fund-raising efforts,” explains Alison. “Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and campaign for better cancer care. Cancer affects us all. We can all help.”
