Respect Awards for Taking a Stand 2006/7

08/01/2007

The Respect Task Force is running, in conjunction with Crime Concern, the fourth annual Taking a Stand Awards and are asking for your help to ensure that people in your community, who go that little further to make it a safer place to live, are recognised for their efforts.

The Respect Awards for Taking a Stand are open to anyone who has tackled anti-social behaviour in their community.  This could mean setting up a youth club to keep young people occupied and off the streets or working with police to bring a noisy neighbour to court.  They are particularly looking for people whose day job doesn't involve tackling anti-social behaviour, but who have cared enough to take a stand and make their community a better place to live.

If you know of someone - or a group of people - who are East Midlands Housing residents & who you think deserve national recognition for their efforts you can make a nomination online at www.respect.gov.uk/awards.

The closing date for nominations is 31 January 2007.

Winners will be invited to attend an award ceremony in March 2007, and will receive £1,000 to spend on continuing their work in the community.

If you have any queries regarding the awards please do not hesitate to contact the Respect Helpline on 08080 002030.
