An era of change
EMH has always moved with the times, making the most of new developments in social housing. The association was quick to embrace the concept of low-cost home ownership in the 1980s, providing schemes such as shared ownership which enable people to get on the first rung of the housing ladder.
In 2006 EMH were successful in the bid to become HomeBuy agents in the three counties of:
- Leicestershire
- Derbyshire
- Nottinghamshire
We are now one of only 23 organisations nationwide that can offer advice on all low-cost ownership schemes.
Housing for older people and those with special needs has also been a priority. Schemes developed by EMH cater for the particular requirements of women suffering domestic violence, elderly people from different ethnic groups, mentally handicapped people and young offenders.
