Right from the start, EMH has worked co-operatively with local authorities. It has also sponsored small housing associations and formed partnerships with those likely to benefit from its experience and local knowledge.

In 1993, it merged with Derngate Housing Society, acquiring another 770 homes in the Northampton area

The establishment of the specialist subsidiary, Midlands Rural Housing, in 1997 to provide management and development services for three county based providers of rural housing, has enabled the development of those associations and raised the profile of rural housing within the region.

A further partnership came in 2005 when EMH joined forces with Foundation, a black-led housing association in Leicester. It also led the formation of Quantum – a new consortium of housing associations committed to working together on future developments; and the establishment of Central England Procurement Partnership (CEPP).

Looking ahead, The EMH Group will be taking over the management of Blaby District Council's housing stock.

Tenants voted overwhelmingly in favour of transferring ownership and management of their homes to Three Oaks Homes, which will become part of the EMH Group of housing associations.

Three Oaks has promised to invest £300million on a programme of improvements to the council’s 2,200 homes over the next five years.

The ballot was carried out by the independent organisation, Electoral Reform
Services. Now, subject to a formal agreement by Blaby District Council, the homes are on course to transfer to Three Oaks Homes in 2008.
